Remembering Congressman Elijah E. Cummings

Maryland Congressman and Civil Rights Champion Passes Away

On Thursday, October 17, 2019, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings passed away. He leaves behind a vibrant legacy of service in civil rights. The State of Maryland had a dedicated servant and inspiring leader in Cummings. Congressman Cummings worked tirelessly for the State of Maryland, including famously defending his hometown of Baltimore against inflammatory remarks made by our Nation's Leader. Congressman Cummings sponsored/co-sponsored legislation such as the FAFSA Fairness Act of 2018 and the Harriet Tubman Tribute Act. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Congressman Cummings during this difficult time. Let us be thankful for the legacy he left, while also being torchbearers so his work will live on.
